3FF (the Three Faiths Forum) has been shortlisted for National Diversity Awards 2015. Charities and role models from across the UK will gather for the awards at the Anglican Cathedral in Liverpool on 18 September 2015 to celebrate the outstanding achievements of those who have demonstrated their devotion to enhancing equality, diversity and inclusion in society. Over 20,000 nominations and votes were received this year, paying tribute to communities nationwide.
3FF, which is shortlisted for the Community Organisation Award for Race/Faith/Religion, builds good relations between people of different faiths, beliefs and cultures. 3FF creates safe spaces in schools, universities, places of work and worship and the wider community where people can engage with questions of belief and identity and meet people different from themselves.
Phil Champain, Director of 3FF, said: “We’re very proud to be shortlisted for an award that celebrates the importance of understanding the nature and value of our diverse society. Creating better relations between our communities is absolutely vital, and we’re delighted that the National Diversity Awards are highlighting the work of people and organisations that are making this happen.”
One of the awards’ supporters, comedian and actor Stephen Fry, said: “Four years on and The National Diversity Awards are continuing to have a positive impact across the whole of the UK. The awards have grown, and with it, so has the vast array of unsung diversity heroes being recognised nationwide. It is crucial that we challenge discrimination head on, and the NDA’s unite those that dedicate their lives to the cause. Long may this continue.”
The awards are supported by Microsoft alongside several other brand including Barclays, The Guardian, Transport for London and The Open University.
Previous winners include Huddersfield based Disability Theatre Group Shabang!, Freedom Fighting Refugee Aderonke Apata, and domestic violence campaigner Karen Ingala Smith.
