A new year means a new cohort of interns. But that also means we have to say goodbye to our last cohort.
The Autumn cohort included Matt and Amina who worked on the Schools team; Harriet who worked on Administration, Operations and Volunteering; Maariyah and Stefania who assisted with the delivery of the ParliaMentors programme and Raheela who assisted with Communications across the organisation.
As part of their shared task, the intern cohort organised a film screening showcasing ‘Tashi and the Monk’ at the 3FF offices in December. The film follows the journey of a young girl named Tashi as she joins a community set up by Buddhist Monk Lobsang who provides abandoned children a place to call home and find friendship. Proceeds from the evening were donated to both Jhamtse Gatsal Children’s community and 3FF.
The evening consisted of a film screening, friendship bracelet making, the opportunity to create art, a raffle and a range of refreshments. The event raised £270 surpassing the £250 target! The interns successfully achieved their goal of creating a cosy and welcoming environment, whilst giving attendees a boost from watching the feel-good documentary film. They also found the planning process a bonding experience as they mediated various challenges, worked as a team and put together an incredibly successful fundraising event.
It was an extremely busy period in the 3FF offices with many exciting opportunities and experiences making the interns time a varied and enriching experience over their three months.
The interns were involved in a wide variety of tasks as expressed by Matt, the Schools intern. ‘I’ve been a junior team member with a team working on multiple projects, and worked across teams; particularly communications. Working on the interns’ fundraiser gave me experience of working with others on an equal level’.
‘The prospect of developing my professional skillset within an interfaith environment was exactly what I was looking for’ said Harriet, Administration, Operations and Volunteering intern whilst reflecting on what drew her to 3FF. She continued; ‘I enjoyed my internship so much I ended up staying for 6 months! My main focus was managing two internship recruitment drives including arranging the assessment days’.
ParliaMentors intern, Maariyah said ‘ Working with 3FF allowed me to see the way in which people of different faiths and beliefs come together to work on common causes that touch everyone, from homelessness to consent to promoting interfaith dialogue. I originally joined 3FF to explore the interfaith sector more and see what could be achieved when those barriers are broken down’.
The 3FF team are delighted that Amina, Raheela and Stefania have extended their internships to six months. We are also thrilled to be welcoming Harriet to the 3FF staff team as HR and Operations Assistant.
We are very excited to see what they’ll all bring to 3FF in the coming months and the entire team are extremely grateful for Matt and Maariyah’s support and wish them the best with their future endeavours!
