This is freelance role at 20 hours per week. £8500 is available for 5 months work.
While this is a remote role, connections to Solihull would be an asset, but not essential.

Overview

The IRJ Project brings Restorative approaches to faith-based hate, hostility and prejudice in Solihull and Glasgow. With an emergency injection of funding from the National Lottery, the IRJ Project team are pivoting to focus on providing restorative responses to the recent far-right riots and marches. We are therefore looking for a flexible, organised and proactive Community Outreach Officer to step in to provide cover for the IRJ Project staff over the next 5 months.

This role will support the current Project Coordinator in Solihull carry out mapping activities, research of faith groups, interviewing members of faith communities, as well as recruiting Community Facilitators to be trained later in the year. Specifically, the Project Support role will work independently on:

  • Reaching out to existing contacts to book in 1-2-1 interviews
  • Conducting 1-2-1 interviews online and by phone with members of faith communities and local stakeholders
  • Researching and mapping faith local issues and concerns and writing up findings into a short report
  • Promoting and managing recruitment for Community Facilitators
  • Coordinating venues, travel and materials for Community Facilitator training

  • Someone who is extremely organised and efficient at juggling many different tasks
  • A strong planner who has an excellent attention to detail
  • A researcher with experience in interviewing, or someone who knows the principles of good interview skills
  • A self-starter who is happy to work independently and get things done with minimal supervision
  • Those able to collate and analyse data and produce reports
  • Someone with experience of working with people from different faith backgrounds – specifically, understand sensitivities around hate, hostility and prejudice and able to be neutral and supportive in talking to people about their experience
