Faith, Identity & Security conversation with 3FF

Sunday 22 April, 11am-6pm, 3FF Offices (Star House, Kentish Town, NW5 4BA).

Security matters to all of us. We all have a stake in the task of building a more secure society, both within the UK and in the wider world. Escalating violence and insecurity suggest that current approaches are not working. Part of the reason for this is that they do not adequately reflect the needs, concerns and hopes of a broad range of people.

On Sunday 22 April, 3FF will be hosting a conversation in partnership with Rethinking Security (RS): an organisation which promotes conversations about security in different communities.

We invite you to join with others for a conversation about security: what it means to people of different faiths and beliefs and how it can be improved, both here in the UK and globally.

Questions we will explore:

  • How does my faith or belief system influence my understanding of security?
  • What insights and resources does my faith or belief system offer to inspire a transformation of how we live with each other and with our planet?
  • What does ‘security’ really mean?
  • Is it possible to generate creative alternatives across faiths and beliefs?
  • Is a less anxious, less insecure world possible?

Participating in this conversation will give you the opportunity to:

  • Think about what security means to you and how your identity influences your understanding
  • Build networks and discover organisations who work in the fields of security and peacebuilding
  • Take the conversation further and work towards making change

Who is it for?

  • Applications are open to anyone with a passion for thinking about security alongside other people from different faith and belief backgrounds.

How do I get a place?

  • Places are free but limited! Please complete this short application form and we will be in touch to confirm whether you have a place within two weeks of your application.
  • The deadline for applications is midnight on Friday 6 April, although we will allocate places before this deadline, so we encourage you to apply early.
  • Places will be allocated based on people’s interest in the issues and ability to commit to the full day. No prior knowledge or skills are necessary.
