The Faith & Belief Forum are delighted to share that we have been awarded a grant from the LGBT+ Futures Intersections Fund to set up a new LGBTQ+ Interfaith Network in 2020!

This builds on our previous LGBT+ Interfaith events for National Interfaith Week, and our three-year LGBT+Faith programme through which we worked with organisations from across the LGBT+ sector. In particular, it has been a joy to work in partnership with single faith LGBT+ groups such as OneBodyOneFaith, Keshet UK, London Queer Muslims, House of Rainbow, Sarbat LGBT Sikhs, Quaker GSDC, and Affirmation among others. We hope to involve all of our partners and friends from the LGBT+ sector in this new network.

What can you expect from the LGBT+ Interfaith Network?

For our LGBT+ Interfaith network we plan to convene a steering group of passionate organisations and individuals to collaboratively design our network’s vision and what we want events to look like.

The network will provide opportunities, through a series of events, for LGBT+ people, from different faiths, beliefs and backgrounds, to come together. We will use interfaith activities and methods to explore personal stories of faith and belief, learn from each other’s traditions, and build solidarity and community. This network will provide much-needed space for sustained engagement and support, for getting to know people from similar and different backgrounds to our own, and to explore what it can mean to be LGBT+ and hold beliefs and/or faith.

Causes for Celebration

We regularly hear from LGBT+ people we work with how important it is to have safe spaces to explore faith, belief and identity with others from the LGBT+ community. As such we are really pleased to be launching this network, a cause for celebration for us this Pride Month!

Here are some images from our last LGBT+ Interfaith events showing causes for celebration from LGBT+ people of faith from different backgrounds:
