In the Movement Building Team, we have been inspired by the varied and immediate responses to COVID-19 from the communities we work with.
In Barking & Dagenham, the Faith & Belief Forum together with Barking and Dagenham Faith Forum, are working closely with the newly established BD CAN, the Barking & Dagenham Citizens’ Alliance Network. Together we have linked eight food banks from different faith backgrounds, who now share resources for the most needy residents across the Borough – recently distributing over 900 loaves of bread!
We are also continuing with our Arts and Young Leaders programmes in the borough, working with residents and artists to develop some exciting online events for the coming months.
Through our LGBT+Faith programme we are staying connected to organisations in the LGBT sector who are offering support to LGBT people of faith during these difficult times. We are continuing to work with our partner organisations to facilitate interfaith learning and support.
Recruitment for the 2020-21 cohort of our ParliaMentors leadership programme continues, and most of the assessment and interviews of the new participants will now be carried out online. Don’t forget the deadline is 13th April 2020.
Like many others, we have also been testing out and innovating our online training models, and planning how best to deliver our interactive sessions during social distancing. Watch this space!
