Alongside the award categories, the amazing work of Community Associations in helping people across Walsall is also recognised. These centres and their dedicated staff are pillars of their local communities and provide invaluable support which the awards aim to highlight and celebrate.
Due to Covid-19 government guidelines, the Awards Ceremony was cancelled in March 2020. A lot has happened since then and we wanted to capture the incredible work groups, communities and individuals have done to help local people during this challenging time.
Therefore, we bought winners together to celebrate their part in the awards as well as creating a space to share their achievements and challenges in response to the pandemic. We ran a number of virtual Community Conversation Events where award winners met with others from their award categories to network and share stories about the impact of the last several months on their sectors, organisations and communities. Thank you to those involved in these conversations, it was empowering to learn from those who have worked tirelessly in their communities and ensure people feel connected and supported.
