This resource comes after two phases of pilot projects across London, the West Midlands and the North West of England. Teachers can find out more in the introduction pack further down.
At the heart of this project is the home learning environment and the engagement of parents and their children with five key artefacts or objects. With the support of project guidance and specially designed resources, they can investigate them in their own space: applying their personal knowledge/ worldview as a lens to help appreciate their own and others’ beliefs, practices and values. They will then use a survey to answer some preprepared questions that encourage them to think about the objects through this lens, without doing their own independent research about the object. Pupils will also explore these themes at school with their teachers.
If you are curious about how these resources were used in other schools, take a look at the case study below.
Resource Pack 2024 Introduction
Objects Connect – Case Study 2023
The PowerPoints here are intended to be self-guided CPD’s to help teachers think about ways in which they can implement Objects Connect project in their school. The project is adaptable and so we have shared some ways in which other schools have run the project in their schools. These PowerPoints are intended to be used alongside the resources available here on this page.
We would also encourage you to complete the pre and post survey, these only take a few minutes and help us to learn more about how the project ran in your school but also to help us to build a picture of why this work is important to schools and gain more funding to further develop these projects and support schools such as yours.

There are resources here that can be useful when thinking about how the project is communicated, why the project is important and can be edited to be sent to parents and support their engagement in the home.

The videos below are our ‘Big reveal’ videos in which a person of faith talks about how they personally use the objects as part of their personal faith practice / tradition. The videos are intended to be used during the event so please do not share them with students or parents beforehand! Through the approach adopted by The Faith and Belief Forum, we encourage people to talk about their faith journey, or the objects in this case, using ‘I statements’ expressing their personal practice, recognising that others may use these objects in different ways.
