In our first year of this poetry competition, we were truly inspired by the response. Over 80 entries were received around the theme Community: Together We Serve, each one offering a unique and thoughtful perspective on what it means to live alongside and care for one another.
At a time when the world can often feel divided or uncertain, the idea of community has never been more important. It was both encouraging and heartening to see how strongly this came through in the students’ work. Across the entries, there was a shared understanding that community is built not just on where we live or what we believe, but on how we treat one another: with kindness, respect, and a willingness to serve.

We were proud to recognise 12 prize winners from Key Stage 1 through to Key Stage 4. However, the quality of submissions went far beyond those selected. So many poems demonstrated creativity, empathy, and insight that we felt it was important to celebrate a wider range of voices.
This anthology has therefore been created to showcase not only the winning entries, but also many of the other outstanding poems submitted.
We would like to extend our sincere thanks to every single student who took part. Your words, ideas, and reflections are what have made this project so meaningful.
We are equally grateful to the teachers who supported and encouraged their students to participate, providing them with the time, space, and confidence to express themselves.
We hope this anthology serves as both a celebration of young voices and a reminder of what is possible when we come together as a community.
We look forward to welcoming you again in November for the next poetry competition. Details will be shared closer to the date — we can’t wait to read what your students create next.
