Nominations open for Southwark’s second faith & belief community awards
The Faith & Belief Forum (F&BF), Southwark Council and Southwark Multi Faith Forum are delighted to announce the return of the Southwark Faith & Belief Community Awards, following a successful inaugural event in 2022.
The awards celebrate the outstanding contributions that faith and belief projects make to their local communities.
Residents can now nominate local individuals and projects that they feel make a real difference within their communities. Winners will be announced at an awards ceremony on 26 September at Southwark Council, 160 Tooley Street.
Across five categories, the awards will celebrate those who have gone above and beyond to support residents. The categories are:
Sophie Mitchell, Programme Coordinator at the Faith & Belief Forum said: “We are so pleased to be hosting the next Faith & Belief Community Awards in partnership with Southwark Council and Southwark Multi Faith Forum. The awards are about shining a light on individuals and groups who make a huge positive impact on local people in the borough. I encourage everyone to submit a nomination, for an individual or a project that they know, to receive an award at this special event!”
Ambrose Omoma, Consultation and Involvement Officer at Southwark Council said: “On behalf of the council, we’re delighted to be associated with celebrating the inspiring contribution to giving people a brighter future that our unsung faith communities bring. Huge thanks and appreciation to the Faith & Belief Forum for making this event possible.”
Musharraf Chaudhury, Chair of Southwark Multi Faith Forum said: “We are very much looking forward to this year’s Southwark Faith and Belief Awards Ceremony on the 26th of September at the Town Hall. There are so many incredible people and community groups that do wonders for the Southwark community in so many ways. This is a great way to recognise and celebrate our community heroes. We encourage you to nominate the hard work and dedication of the deserving individuals and groups that help make Southwark the wonderful borough that it is.”
Nominations for the awards are open from today (Friday 12 July) to Sunday 11 August at 11:59pm.
