A Prelude to Unity: Harmonies and Inspirational Melodies

While unable to attend in person, Sir Kenneth Olisa, His Majesty’s representative in London, sent a touching video message, extending heartfelt congratulations to the extraordinary charities honoured that evening. He took a moment to acknowledge David Dangoor CBE, Deputy Lieutenant, retiring this year, for his years of dedicated leadership in steering the Council on Faith and supporting London’s faith communities.
David Dangoor, a steadfast supporter for seven years, delved into the deeper significance of the Awards: “We are not just celebrating faith and belief; we are celebrating values, values many of us share. These awards are something very important to His Majesty the king as it was to his late mother. Our role is to honour, advocate, and encourage faith and community groups in this great capital city of ours.”

Gurseva, a non-profit charity, champions well-being and fights poverty with a focus on selfless service. Established in 1998 and officially registered in 2015, Gurseva’s mission revolves around inspiring volunteering and achieving universal prosperity.
Educate Not Mutilate: Acknowledging Unseen Heroes in Health and Wellbeing
Terri Murray from Educate Not Mutilate, a Health and Wellbeing award winner, emphasised the often-overlooked work of those dedicating time and energy to impact strangers. Terri stated, “Individuals who dedicate their time and energy to work that impacts strangers often go unrecognised. They often work invisibly, behind the scenes, not for status or recognition, but because it needs to be done. We thank the Faith & Belief Forum for supporting the work of people like Hibo Wardere, our leader, to support women and girls.”
Phil Champain’s Reflections on Community Connection
Phil Champain, Director of the Faith & Belief Forum, expressed the importance and honour in hosting an event that showcases the fantastic projects shaping London. Reflecting on the core philosophy, he shared, “In order to truly understand, you need to get close.” The essence of the Awards and the winners lies in their proximity to the community, understanding its needs, especially in challenging times.
Phil paid tribute to David Dangoor DL, the patron and supporter of the Awards for seven years, announcing that moving forward, they will be called the Dangoor Awards. He expressed gratitude for the continuous support of the Greater London Lieutenancy, the Council on Faith, and especially David Dangoor DL, emphasizing their commitment to championing faith and community groups in London.
