The Borough of Waltham Forest is gearing up for an extraordinary event as it prepares to host the inaugural Waltham Forest Faith & Belief Awards. As a partnership between Waltham Forest Borough Council, Waltham Forest Faith Communities Forum, and the Faith & Belief Forum, the Awards will recognise the outstanding efforts of local community projects and voluntary initiatives that have made a significant impact on the lives of residents. Across nine categories, the awards celebrate the exceptional work undertaken by these groups in fostering community cohesion and promoting positive change.

The Waltham Forest Faith & Belief Awards, inspired by the relentless and altruistic action of local community groups and their faith or shared beliefs, will take place on 28th September 2023 at Fellowship Square. The event honours the often-unheralded groups and individuals who have devoted their time, passion, and expertise to making a difference in the borough.

The categories for the awards are: health & wellbeing; inspiring youth; led by younger voices; cost-of-living; promoting inclusion and community cohesion; interfaith relations; supporting women & girls; and skills, jobs and lifelong learning. These awards recognise projects that prioritize mental health and quality of life, connect diverse faith and belief communities, create inclusive spaces, and support overlooked individuals by providing life-saving services and valuable community-level support. The categories encompass the multitude of ways that community projects contribute to civic life in the borough

Nominations for the Waltham Forest Faith & Belief Awards will open on 3rd July and will close a month later in the week commencing 31st July. Eligible projects are those that work within the borough of Waltham Forest, broadly falling within one of the nine award categories, and have not received wider recognition before.

These awards provide an opportunity to shed light on remarkable initiatives that often go unnoticed, highlighting the collective impact they have on the community and the power of harnessing faith and belief for good. By celebrating these projects, the event aims to inspire others to take action and make positive changes in Waltham Forest.

The Waltham Forest Faith & Belief Awards will bring together a diverse array of community leaders, residents, and local organizations. The event will provide a platform to showcase the remarkable stories behind the initiatives, their accomplishments, and the collective impact they have had on the borough.

The event will exemplify the power of faith and belief as a driving force for community action. Attendees will have the opportunity to connect with representatives, volunteers and award winners or recognised projects, fostering collaboration and networking for future joint efforts.
