The London Faith & Belief Community Awards are to be renamed the London Dangoor Awards. The Faith & Belief Forum will continue to to shine a light on the unsung heroes of London’s Faith & Belief Communities as it has for the past 7 years.

We are delighted to launch the new look London Dangoor Awards 2024. F&BF are excited to further project the vision of this awards event, now in its 8th year, working with the Greater London Lieutenancy’s Council on Faith to bring connectedness and recognition to the interfaith scene in London.  The new name honours one of the awards’ biggest supporters over the past decade.

The F&BF connecting line is prominent through the base of the trophy-inspired design, evoking the flow of the River Thames through the heart of London, while the clean lines of the modern text and trophy design demonstrate the prestigious nature of the award winners’ network. Our strapline ‘Celebrating London’s Faith & Belief Communities’ explains the ethos of the awards, while the playful font takes inspiration from the youthful spirit of the F&BF brand. The regal purple brings a touch of class and a nod to the inception of the awards with the Greater London Lieutenancy.

The London Dangoor Awards’ Schools & Educational Establishments category is now open! If you know any school or educational establishment working to progress faith & belief inclusion and understanding in London, now is your chance to nominate them!

Begin your nomination here.

We are opening the schools’ category before the others to give schools a chance during term time to nominate themselves before everyone is away for Summer. You will still be able to nominate in this category once all the other categories are open too.

The remaining categories will open on Monday 12th June. You can read the descriptions of all the categories for the London Dangoor Awards 2024 here (subject to small changes). On this page you’ll also find eligibility criteria and, when the time comes, the nomination form itself. You can register your interest here, to be notified when the nominations open.

Phil Champain, Director of the Faith & Belief Forum, has explained the importance of the London Dangoor Awards to F&BF:

“The London Dangoor Awards are now an integral part of not just the Faith & Belief Forum’s calendar, but the London interfaith scene. Every year, we identify and highlight the amazing work being done across communities driven by faith and belief. We convene prominent faith and civic leaders along with those community groups awarded and recognised, to demonstrate the powerful role of faith & belief in London. The grants we give help the charities with their ongoing efforts and reward them for their hard work. The growing network of award winners and the connections made on the night serve to strengthen community ties and inspire further action to improve the lives of Londoners.”

The rebrand of this long-standing event (previously the London Faith & Belief Community Awards) represents a strengthening of the identity of the awards under the patronage of the Dangoor family.

Bushra Nasir, the Chair of the London Faith & Belief Community Awards for each of the past seven years reflected on the importance of highlighting faith & belief in London and what the judging process means:

“I have been a part of the Faith & Belief’s Judging Panel for seven years now and going into my eighth. Finding the right winning groups who truly represent the most outstanding projects across London is vital. We work with transparency as a panel with clear criteria, relying on the longstanding expertise of the members who comprise the panel from both the Greater London Lieutenancy and the Faith & Belief Forum.

In truth, every project we get to hear about each year is a pleasure. There are so many projects doing incredible work and picking just a maximum of 40 out of 100 or so is incredibly difficult. We all vote individually then decide collectively who should win, and we take our time in deliberation. Every project deserves so much credit and if you didn’t win the award previously, you should definitely send in a fresh nomination this year!”

The London Dangoor Awards will take place at the Royal Society of Medicine on 26th November 2024. Formerly known as the London Faith & Belief Community Awards, this event continues to celebrate the vital work of London’s faith and belief communities by bringing together local heroes and shining a light on their inspirational work. Awards night is also a chance for hundreds of London’s faith & belief leaders to come together under one roof, be inspired and grow their network.

This year, as every year, we give out 40 awards of £500 to enhance the work of inspirational projects.
