The Walsall Community Dialogue Project which F&BF is running in partnership with Walsall for All has bought together 13 local groups to talk about things that are meaningful to them over three online dialogue sessions. With the aim of linking groups together to explore themes of identity and living in Walsall, the project has enabled participants to share stories and learn more about each other. In the current climate, we think it’s more important than ever to create spaces where people can do this as these conversations have allowed us to share experiences of the last year, warts and all.
The sessions have been a welcomed distraction from the pandemic as the challenges of navigating and socialising online have helped us to connect and form friendships. Alongside the laughter and shared confusion with technology, we have also been inspired by the stories we’ve heard and the strength of communities as they come together to support one another.
For the final dialogue sessions, groups are coming together to talk about where they live and what it is that makes them feel welcome. We are excited to join these conversations over the coming weeks and exchange views on making Walsall an inclusive place for everyone.
