Female Voices was an event series which ran from 2012-2016 to create opportunities for women from different backgrounds to share experiences and ideas while enjoying art, comedy, food, music and performances.

Female Voices was an event series which ran from 2012-2016 to create opportunities for women from different backgrounds to share experiences and ideas while enjoying art, comedy, food, music and performances. We worked with a variety of partner organisations to create inviting arts spaces for diverse groups of women to make connections and engage in dialogue.

WHAT WOMEN BELIEVE
March 2016: An art installation, created by artists Tessa Brown, Ruth Corney and OOMK, celebrating the lives and often untold stories of influential women from different communities.

27 November 2014: An evening of music, poetry and storytelling featuring the Cave Collective, Pearls of Islam and Special Guests.

FEMALE VOICES EVENING AT NAVIGATIONS
11 September 2014: Panel discussion hosted by Jumoké Fashola on the theme of: Shutting up, putting up, speaking out: How are UK women challenging convention? The panel featured female artists, campaigners and activists including, Onjali Rauf (Making Her – story Founder & Director), Delaine Le Bas (English Romany, Artist and Activist), Bumi Thomas (Singer Songwriter and Campaigner), Dina Brawer (Jewish Orthodox Feminist Alliance Ambassador) and Melt – em Avcil (Former child detainee and Campaigner).
Discussion followed by a rich line up of performances including award winning kora player Sona Jobarteh, singer and spoken word artist FLOetic Lara and singer-songwriter, and fusing jazz, blues, folk and reggae, Bumi Thomas.

FEMALE VOICES AT URBAN DIALOGUES 2013
October 2013: A panel discussion – Feminist Action – On the right track? – chaired by BBC correspondent Razia Iqbal, and featured Laura Bates (Everyday Sexism Project), Julie Siddiqi (Islamic Society of Britain), Jacqueline Nicholls (Artist) and Dr. Althea Legal-Miller (King’s College London). Discussion followed by a rich line up of performances including The Venus Bushfires (pictured) and Eliza Shaddad, as well as spoken word poetry from Rachel Rose Reid, Zena Edwards and Sabrina Mahfouz.

November 2012: An evening featuring a panel discussion on “Women as Agents of Change”; performance by Rachel Rose-Reid, Rachel Mars and Sukinah Islam; food by Mazi Mas ; and music from Pearls of Islam.
