As part of Walsall For All these awards aim to recognise and celebrate the vital work of local communities in making Walsall a welcoming place for people of all faiths, beliefs and cultures.
The Walsall Community Recognition Awards aim to bring together local heroes and shine a light on their inspirational work. It seems more important than ever to highlight the achievements of groups and community leaders in bringing people together, providing local services and building new relationships across difference.
In the upcoming months, we will be sharing the positive stories of award winners through our social media campaign. We will be shining a spotlight on each of the winners within the categories listed below:
Alongside the award categories, we will be sharing the amazing work of Community Associations in helping people across Walsall. These centres and their dedicated staff are pillars of their local communities and provide invaluable support which we will be celebrating!
Due to Covid-19 government guidelines, the Awards Ceremony was cancelled in March 2020. A lot has happened since then and we believe the awards should also capture the incredible work groups, communities and individuals have done to help local people during this challenging time.
Therefore, it feels even more important to get winners together to celebrate their part in the awards as well as creating a space to share their achievements and challenges in response to the past several months. We will be running a number of virtual Community Conversation Events where award winners will have an opportunity to meet with others from their award categories to network and share stories about the impact of the last several months on their sectors, organisations and communities. We are excited to be holding these events and look forward to learning from those who have worked tirelessly in their communities and ensure people feel connected and supported.
These Walsall Community Recognition Awards Community Conversations are part of the wider Walsall For All Community Dialogue Project. If you would like to get involved in this project to discuss what’s important to you and your community, we will be hosting a series of Online Community Conversations. Along with a small group of people from across Walsall, you will have the opportunity to attend three online sessions to explore what’s important to you about the themes of identity, belonging and living together in Walsall.
